Henderson, TX - Gate Guard Services (GGS) yard

Well, that happened fast! We were just about to get out of bed this morning (sleeping in) at around 8:30 when the phone rang. Wayne hopped up to answer and it was Brandon, one of the supervisors for GGS. He asked if we would like to take a gate beginning Friday the 11th for at least a month in Shreveport, Louisiana. Uh, YES! That's what we came here for ... we are ready to work. Only one little hitch though ... not really a hitch, but for lack of a better word ... we drove approximately 210 miles southwest yesterday from Livingston to Gonzales to wait for a gate. In Livingston, we were only 115 miles directly south of Henderson. That meant today we had to drive 278 miles northeast to Henderson! Oh well, such is life. So that is where we sit tonight, in the GGS company yard in Henderson, Texas. Brandon is meeting us here bright and early at 6:00 a.m. in the morning to escort us over to the gate in Shreveport ... OUR gate, at least for the time being. It's a start, and we are excited, and if truth be told, a little nervous.

One really nice bright spot for the day is that our good friends, Dave and Kathy Monteith (worked with them in Illinois last summer) are working at a KOA in Rusk, TX this winter which is only about 36 miles from here, so we decided to sort of meet in the middle for dinner. We spent a couple of hours with them in Jacksonville at Chili's and had a wonderful time catching up. We hadn't seen them since mid-September last year so it was truly special.
