March, and still in Mississippi

What's my excuse for a two-month lapse in blogging? Too busy? No, not really. Having fun? Absolutely. Proscrastinating? Ummmm, you bet!
We have been here at Okatoma Resort & RV Park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for over two months now. We only work (officially) on Mondays and Tuesdays ... 48 hours straight. We actually end up working far more than that, as there are just so many projects that need to be done around here. Plus, the owners are super nice which makes it very hard to turn them down!
Don't let me fool you though. We really feel like we have been on vacation. Compared to the serious work we did in Kentucky for Amazon, this is nothing. We are both quite relaxed. In fact, Wayne mentioned today that we will have to get used to working again in Maine! Projects notwithstanding, we are both doing a lot of reading, visiting with new friends, sipping coffee at Starbucks, etc.
We have been enjoying the weather here for the past couple of weeks. Lots of sunny 70 degree days ... mmmmm ... so nice. Today though, it has been pouring for hours and tomorrow is supposed to be worse. Oh well, it IS March, not June! At least we have gotten past (we hope) the really cold weather (see below).

We have made quite a few little side trips exploring some of the nearby areas. One such trip was to the Gulfport/Biloxi area in the middle of January. I lived in Gulfport as a baby and I believe we found the house my family lived in. I wasn't sure it would still be here due to all the hurricanes that have hit the area since the late 1950s, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a house at the correct address that appeared to be the right age and style.
We've also made two trips to New Orleans. We will be avoiding it next week during the main Mardi Gras celebrations however. We were there just a week ago with some friends and it was already getting crowded. Not really our scene. Anyway, during our visit to "Nawlins'" last week, we all went on a swamp tour. It was so cool ... we saw three alligators, several turtles, many different species of birds including great white egrets ...  we had a marvelous time.

I think we will both be very sorry to leave Mississippi. Let's just hope we feel the same about Maine! Four weeks, five days, and counting down until we head to the northeast.
